About Ben Weyts

Ben Weyts studied Political Science and held various positions within the Volksunie and N-VA between 1998 and 2008. He was, among other things, the Head of Flemish Minister Geert Bourgeois’s office.

In 2009, he became a member of the Federal Chamber of Representatives.

He has been a Flemish minister since 2014 and was in charge of Mobility and Public Works, Vlaamse Rand, Tourism and Animal Welfare between 2014 and 2019. Then, between 2019 and 2024, he was entrusted with Education, Sports, Animal Welfare and Vlaamse Rand, along with the Deputy Minister-Presidency. Ben Weyts was appointed Deputy Minister-President of the Government of Flanders and Flemish Minister for Budget and Finance, Vlaamse Rand, Immovable Heritage and Animal Welfare in 2024.
